Cody Kearsley Is Now in L.A.

Cody Kearsley, representing the Penticton Kiwanis Music Festival at the 2009 Provincial Festival, is now in Los Angeles at The Edge dance studio.

Nicole Ciapponi, 14, of Surrey, BC, won a silver medal and the Sandra Faire Award for Theatricality in the finals of the 2008 Genée International Ballet Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for young dancers.  She was among 16 finalists in the competition, which was held in Toronto, its first staging in North America. A total of 53 dancers, including 10 from Canada, competed for a spot in the finals.

Nicole was one of the youngest competitors in the event, which includes dancers up to age 19. She trains at the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver, which has sent several finalists to the Genée over the last 20 years. She was awarded her Solo Seal in March 2008 and has twice been a provincial champion. Nicole has also studied, on scholarship, at the Royal Winnipeg and Pacific Northwest Ballet school summer programs.
