Nationals 2012

The 2012 National Music Festival for soloists and chamber groups was held August 16-18 in Ft. McMurray, AB 

The following represented BC at the 2012 National Festival :

Piano: Chun-Kai (Kevin) Chien, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival
Voice: Hillary Young, Greater Victoria Festival
Strings: Colleen Venables, Kamloops Festival
Woodwinds: Amy Yang, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival
Guitar: Matthew Silverman, Greater Victoria Festival

Colleen Venables placed FIRST in the Nationals Strings class and Chun-Kai (Kevin) Chien, placed THIRD in the National Piano class.

The following choirs represented BC at the 2012 National Festival:

Class 100: Vancouver Island Chamber Choir, Greater Victoria Festival
Class 104: Oak Bay High School - Lux, Gerater Victoria Festival
Class 106: Seycove Junior Chamber Choir, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival
Class 107: Kamloops Thompson Children's Choir, Kamloops Festival
Class 108: Crofton House Grade 6 Choir, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival
Class 109: Coastal Sound Youth Choir, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival

This competition was completed before the National Festival began.
The Coastal Sound Youth Choir, Carrie Tennant, conductor, placed FIRST in Class 109 AND won the Paul Bourret Grand Award for best choral performance of all the choral classes.
The Vancouver Island Chamber Choir, Wade Noble, conductor, placed FIRST in Class 100 and Oak Bay High School - Lux, conductor Sally Murphy, placed SECOND in Class 104.
